As I was walking down the hallway from the laundry room back to my room, I could see through the glass wall, Shinkori Unit 1 and Unit 2 domes. With stars hanging above them. I could also see some trees and their shadows embracing parked cars in the parking lot, the road, grass and everything else down there. There is a small football field just across the road opposite my dormitory, the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) building right next to it, the place where we would go for a karaoke session or pool. And I kept on walking and walking, closer and closer to my room. I could hear Ill Nino playing on my computer because I left my room door open before I went to the laundry room. And now I am back here, five minutes ago I was writing my assignment. A 3-5 pages of essay on how to survey public acceptance of nuclear power development. With this weekend mood striking a day earlier, it is really a pain for me to try to come up with sensible sentences for my essay.
And I thought again of the sight of Shinkori domes with the stars smiling coyly to the sound of sea breeze bashing the randomly distributed rocks. And I asked myself, how on freaking planet earth did I end up hereeeeeeeeee? Unable to answer the question, I moved on to the next unimportant issue.
I looked at my wrist, two familiar objects wrapping my wrist comfortably. A yellow "LIVESTRONG" band, something my friend, Jun Ho, got for me from the US, and a black magnetic bracelet that belongs to my brother, Ameer. Truthfully, I miss him even though we are not really close. And I asked myself, how on freaking Korean land did I end up on blogspot instead of that Microsoft Word document that I am supposed to submit tomorrow night?
Eid is waving at me from about two days away. Wow I just used days as a measure of distance. Only in my world, this is possible. Just somebody please justify this to me. Humans, even though they know that something is wrong, but they still do it. Praying for forgiveness with every breath I take, for myself, my family and everyone else in the world.
And I asked myself, why can't this "Me & Mrs Jones" by Michael Buble leave my headdddddd?
I have lived, and I am ashamed. God help us all.
